Coil handling transporters and steel coil transport

Morello designs transporters for coil handling and steel coil transport throughout the different stages of the production process. Each steel coil cart can be configured with a loading platform, supports, and centering systems according to the diameter, width, weight, and center of gravity of the material to be handled.

These solutions facilitate the transfer of steel products between departments, processing lines, storage areas, and loading stations, helping to make internal flows safer and more continuous.

Ladle transfer carts for hot metal transport

For ladle transport, Morello develops tailor-made transfer carts designed to withstand the severe conditions typical of steel mills, including heat, fumes, dust, and high-temperature loads.

Each ladle transfer cart can be configured according to load capacity, dimensions, power supply system, route, control mode, and the safety devices required by the application.

Billet and slab transport

For handling steel billets and slabs, Morello develops wheel-based and rail-guided self-propelled transporters, selected according to the plant layout, the distance to be covered, and the repeatability of the production cycles.

Tailor-made configurations allow each slab transporter to handle large loads in indoor or outdoor areas, reducing complex maneuvers and supporting transfers between production departments.

Mill stand handling

Morello also develops automatic handling systems for mill stands used in steel tube production and rolling mill processes. These systems are designed to support frequent equipment changes, precise positioning, and the movement of heavy components along production lines.

For an SRM rolling mill application, Morello designed a complete automatic system with rail platform carts for moving mill stands weighing up to 65 tons and transfer carts with a load capacity of 100 tons. The system included precise positioning, automatic battery recharging, safety functions, Wi-Fi communication with plant IT systems, data exchange, and diagnostics linked to the central system. Morello also designs transporters for scrap baskets and scrap buckets, intended for handling recyclable material in steel mills.
