Description
Heavy-duty electric platform trucks and trolleys for battery-powered or hybrid material handling
CAPACITY: 0 – 1000 TONS
One of Morello’s core areas of expertise is designing and manufacturing advanced electric platform trucks with battery-powered or hybrid drive systems, engineered to meet specific operational needs. Our customized heavy-duty electric vehicles are ideal for handling large, heavy, and non-standard loads within manufacturing facilities around the world.
Increasing concern over emissions from diesel vehicles has led to greater regulation, and in some cases restrictions, on material handling activities, both inside warehouses and in outdoor industrial areas. To meet today’s environmental and operational requirements, Morello offers a comprehensive range of heavy-duty electric vehicles, including platform trucks and trolleys available in fully electric (battery-powered) or hybrid configurations.
BATTERY-POWERED ELECTRIC PLATFORM TRUCKS
Battery-powered ride-on transporters use alternating current electric motors managed by PLC systems and advanced inverters, powered by one or more batteries installed on the electric trucks.
Key advantages of fully electric flatbed transporters compared to diesel models include:
- Zero emissions, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
- Significant cost savings thanks to reduced energy consumption
- Low maintenance requirements
- Longer service life, easy and economical motor replacement
- Reduced noise levels
- High automation potential
Our heavy-duty electric vehicles can be equipped with various battery types, from traditional lead-acid to advanced lithium-ion solutions.
Lithium technology, in particular, has greatly accelerated the adoption of battery-powered trucks. With rapid charging times (as little as one hour with modern lithium-ion cells) and the ability to perform quick “top-up” charges during short breaks, these batteries enable battery-powered coil trucks to support demanding work cycles that do not permit long charging intervals. When batteries are properly sized and charging pauses strategically planned, our electric platform trucks can operate continuously, 24/7.
HYBRID TRUCKS
Hybrid systems provide an exceptionally flexible solution for electric platform trucks, combining the zero-emission benefits of battery operation with the extended autonomy of diesel power. Morello’s hybrid ride-on transporters can operate entirely on battery power or switch to diesel when needed, allowing operators to alternate between emission-free and diesel modes using a simple selector switch. This versatility is especially valuable for applications that require both indoor and outdoor operation, offering a level of autonomy difficult to achieve with battery-only systems.
Morello’s electric flatbed transporters feature alternating current electric traction motors managed through PLC control and inverters, ensuring low maintenance needs and high reliability, core strengths of Morello’s engineering approach. These electric platform trucks also represent an excellent alternative to hydraulic-motor solutions, which typically involve higher maintenance costs, environmental concerns, and lower overall reliability.
Drawing on extensive experience, Morello designs and manufactures heavy-duty electric vehicles fully tailored to customer requirements, with customization available across nearly every component. Such customization is often essential for transporting molds and coils, which may require dedicated coil saddles, reinforced frames, or specially engineered structures.
In addition to trucks designed for coil and mold handling, Morello supplies electric material-handling vehicles for a wide range of industries, including steel mills, foundries, aerospace, nuclear, energy, aluminum, oil & gas, and other sectors that require robust on-site heavy-load transportation.
Thanks to integrated PLCs, inverters, and advanced electronic sensors, Morello’s electric platform trucks are also ideal for complete automation of material-handling processes. On request, our heavy-duty electric vehicles can be supplied in AGV-ready versions, designed for future automation and integration into fully automated workflows.
